COLEMAN – The Texas Department of Transportation is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 to introduce proposed improvements to a 1.2 – mile portion of State Highway 206 (Neches Street) between U.S. 84/283 (North Colorado Street) and SH 153 (West Walnut Street) in the city of Coleman. The meeting will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Coleman City Park Family Center, 1700 N. Neches St.

The meeting will be an open house format, and the public is welcome to come and go at their convenience. Diagrams of the proposed improvements will be on display and staff will be available to answer questions; there will be no formal presentation.

The project includes the following proposed improvements:

  • Reconstruction of the roadway pavement.
  • Construction of concrete sidewalks that meet ADA compliance.
  • Construction of concrete curbs and gutters.
  • Drainage improvements.

The proposed project would be constructed primarily within existing TxDOT rights of way. Very limited additional right of way acquisition would be necessary adjacent to the BNSF railroad bridge to facilitate drainage improvements.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
