PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that work will begin June 18 on State Highway 34 in Greenville, Texas, to improve the pavement surface of that roadway.

This project will extend northward from the intersection of I-30 and SH 34 (Wesley Street) to the intersection of SH 34 and SH 224 (Commerce Drive). Contractor Austin Bridge and Road, Irving, Texas, was awarded the contract for this work, valued at more than $1.6 million. TxDOT officials anticipate an October 2017 completion date for this project.

The contractor will mill and inlay the road surface, perform base repairs, install a new pavement overlay and pavement markings, and upgrade the signs along this roadway.

Motorists are urged to use alternate routes whenever possible while this construction is underway. Those who must travel in this area are asked to pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
