PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today advised motorists who regularly travel US 82 between Bonham and Sherman, Texas, to slow down as they negotiate a planned lane/traffic shift on Aug. 23 and 24. The traffic shift is necessary for contractor crews to install concrete beams for the overpass under construction at the intersection of US 82 and FM 898 in Fannin County.
On Aug. 23, east bound lanes on US 82 at this location will be closed. On Aug. 24, west bound lanes will be closed in the same manner, TxDOT officials said.
On both days, traffic will shift to the other side of US 82, with one lane moving east-bound traffic and one lane moving west-bound traffic. The lane shifts will be gradual and will be marked by orange traffic devices. Motorists should slow down while approaching and traveling through this area on both days, and should be watchful for work zones in this area while this construction project is underway.
Both lane/traffic shifts will be during daytime hours only, and should be removed by evening, officials said.
