PARIS – TxDOT officials today announced that work to improve portions of FM 1569 and FM 1566 in Hunt County began earlier this week.
This project will affect FM 1569 from its intersection with US 69 and extend 3.3 miles west along FM 1569. Similar work will affect FM 1566 from State Highway 34 to FM 118, officials said.
Contractor AK Gillis and Sons Inc. was granted 165 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project valued at more than $3 million.
The contractor will rehabilitate both roadways by installing a cement-treated flex base, new surface and drainage structures, and new signs and pavement markings. The work will be performed using phased construction in order to maintain eastbound and westbound traffic movement, and to minimize any temporary lane closures that may be necessary.
Motorists who frequently travel in these areas are asked to remain alert and pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through temporary work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
